Meet Diannia.
Diannia Bright is a lifelong educator, dedicated public servant, and passionate community advocate committed to uplifting families, students, and residents across Craven and Lenoir Counties.
For over 22 years, Diannia has served as a Special Education teacher, supporting students with diverse learning needs and helping them reach their full potential. Her dedication and leadership were recognized during the 2021–2022 school year, when she was named Special Education Teacher of the Year for Lenoir County Public Schools.
Today, Diannia serves as a County Commissioner in Dover, North Carolina, where she works to strengthen local government, expand access to essential services, and ensure that every resident’s voice is heard. Her leadership is grounded in integrity, empathy, and accountability.

In addition to her work in education, Diannia has spent 14 years at Caswell Center, providing care and support to individuals with mental health challenges. She is also a Qualified Professional with more than 20 years of experience at Human Resource Unlimited in New Bern, where she has advocated for families navigating mental health and behavioral health services. These roles have given her firsthand insight into the challenges facing vulnerable populations and reinforced the importance of inclusive, compassionate policies.
Diannia is a proud member of the New Bern Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (2018), embodying the organization’s principles of public service, scholarship, and community empowerment.
Diannia is the proud mother of one son and grandmother of one grandson. Her experiences as both a parent and grandparent deepen her commitment to building a future where every child has access to quality education, every family can obtain mental health and healthcare services, and every community has the resources it needs to thrive.
Above all, Diannia Bright is a leader who listens, empowers, and delivers results—dedicating her life to service and advocacy for her community.
After more than 22 years as an educator and over 20 years as a Qualified Professional, Diannia Bright is taking her lifetime of service to the next level by seeking to serve North Carolinians as a House Representative for Craven County.
